Design Thinking for Design Thinkers: Redesigning Knowdeon’s Platform to Inspire the Next Wave of Innovators
The Client
Knowdeon is a San Francisco Bay Area-based company delivering MBA-level online courses on cutting-edge topics like Design Thinking, Blockchain, and Rapid Prototyping. Their platform connects learners with top professors from the Berkeley Innovation Group.

The Goal
Knowdeon needed a website redesign to reflect their forward-thinking curriculum and match the design quality of leading players in the online learning space.
The objective was to create a modern, engaging visual identity while improving how information was presented to a design-savvy audience.
My Role
As the solo UI Designer, I worked closely with the CEO and Co-Founder, collaborating remotely with a copywriter to craft a visually striking website.
My responsibilities included developing a new look and feel for the brand, designing the homepage and individual product pages, flyers, informational brochures and aligning visuals with the company’s innovative, human-centred values.

Solution
The Process
1. Design Thinking in Action
I applied Design Thinking principles to the full UI process—empathising with the creative and entrepreneurial target audience, defining visual goals, and ideating early concepts.
2. Iterative Collaboration
Through iterative rounds of feedback and remote working sessions with the Knowdeon team, I accelerated the design phase, reducing the number of iterations and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
3. Visual Direction
The new brand direction centred on a modern, vibrant color palette and a system of typography that conveys creativity, energy, and professionalism. The UI was decluttered and restructured to improve readability and engagement while respecting the original information architecture.

The Outcome
A refreshed visual identity aligned with Knowdeon’s mission to innovate in the online learning space.
A modern, conversion-focused homepage and optimised product pages that better communicate the value of each course.
Stronger brand perception among their design-thinking audience and higher engagement on key pages.
Positive client feedback on both the creative direction and the collaborative process.

Learnings
This project reinforced the importance of applying Design Thinking not just to the product but also to the process itself. Early stakeholder collaboration helped speed up decision-making and reduce iteration cycles.
Additionally, balancing creative freedom with brand strategy taught me how to craft visual systems that resonate with both business goals and a design-savvy audience.
