Background
"Simply order your car online. Found it. Ordered. Delivered."
1. Client Overview
InstaMotion is Germany’s leading online platform for purchasing used cars 100% digitally. Since 2017, they’ve been transforming the car-buying experience by enabling customers to find, order, and receive their vehicles entirely online—complete with registration and insurance, delivered right to their doorstep.
The Process
I collaborated with the Search and Checkout teams in an Agile environment, working in sprints to deliver and refine key features. My process combined research, competitive analysis, and hands-on UI/UX design to improve areas such as the trade-in flow, financial calculator, insurance options, and product pages. Throughout, I worked closely with developers and QA to ensure smooth handovers and designs that aligned with both user needs and business goals.
On the team:
Daria Khimych (UI Design), Stefan Richter (CPO), Choukri Bijou (PM), Katharina Glowalla (PM), Anna-Lena Lenz (Sr. PM), Daniyal Hamid (Engineering Manager)

2. The Challenge
To design and optimize key touchpoints within Instamotion’s MVP—specifically the Search and Checkout funnels.
The focus was on creating an intuitive, trust-building user journey that would increase conversion rates and support a seamless, fully online car-buying experience.
Some of the main areas I contributed to included:
Product Detail Page (PDP) Improvements: I worked on restructuring pricing and insurance details on the car detail pages, ensuring clearer breakdowns and more trust-building information.
Financial Calculator Redesign: I helped simplify the financing calculator’s UX to make cost estimations faster and more transparent for users.
Checkout Optimizations: I designed updated checkout flows, including voucher integrations and a more intuitive order summary, to reduce friction and improve the overall purchasing experience.
Information Architecture & UI Grids: I contributed to optimizing content organization (e.g., car specifications grid, desktop/mobile layouts) to create consistency and improve content readability across devices.

3. The Outcome
The improvements made across Instamotion’s MVP contributed to a more seamless and trustworthy car-buying experience.
By simplifying complex touchpoints—like financing options, price breakdowns, and the checkout flow—we helped reduce cognitive load and friction in key moments of the customer journey.
Some of the key outcomes included:
Increased trust and transparency on product detail pages by clearly showing financing, pricing, and vehicle inspection information.
A more streamlined financial calculator, allowing users to easily compare financing options and move forward with confidence.
A smoother checkout experience, with clearer summaries and additional features like voucher integration to support conversion goals.
Consistent UI grids and layouts across different screens, helping create a unified design system and improving the visual hierarchy.
These updates supported Instamotion’s mission to make online car buying as simple and reassuring as possible, helping to lay a solid foundation for scaling their MVP.

4. Feedback
"Thanks a lot for your commitment to instamotion, you helped us a lot getting some important new features ready for delivery. I am grateful we had you as a reliable and outcome-oriented person on the team. It was very pleasant to work with you." - Stefan Richter, CPO.
